Apres-Steam, How to Get Healthier Skin after Taking Your Steam Shower

Now we all know of all of those great benefits of taking a steam shower. Steam therapy is a natural alternative to expensive chemical products and can effectively treat several skin conditions.

During your steam shower, steam acts as deep cleaning agent to expel toxins from your skin, washing out impurities and preventing acne and pimples. By stimulating blood circulation to the skin surface, steam removes dead skin cells, and hydrates the pores for shinier skin. Steam can be your private fountain of youth and make you look younger!

But what can you do to make sure that those benefits last? Taking a warm to cool shower after your steam shower, will increase the blood flow, while the heat will loosen your muscles and helping them to release toxins. Using a gentle exfoliate will remove the dead skin cells that have been transported to the surface. A quick application of a moisturizer while the skin is still damp will trap some of the water still on your body and use it to hydrate your skin. It’s important to use your towel in a patting motion before applying moisturizer, be sure to pat your skin with a towel instead of rubbing it since a toweling dry can be rough on your skin and cause irritation.

Finally, while it might be hard to resist the temptation, don't drink alcohol before or after a steam since it will dilate blood vessels even more. Water is a healthier source of hydration for you and your skin!

How do you like to take Your Steam Shower?

It’s been a rough week. Work has been stressful, the kids are after you. It’s time to unwind with a steambath. So what’s the best way to take a steam shower?

The first thing to do is hang a big “Do Not Disturb” sign outside the bathroom door.  Tell your hubby that he has to handle the kids while you refresh your body and mind. You turn on some soft music to add to the mood.

Eating or drinking water and natural tea will hydrate you properly before you get your dose of steam. Bring in a bottle of water if you want to hydrate during your steam shower. If you decide to eat, you should wait at least one hour after eating a big meal before your steam shower so that you can digest properly.

Towels are optional. If you’re planning to sit in your steam shower before you get wet, wearing a cotton towel and letting your exposed skin sweat freely will keep your body warm. You can always take it off when it gets too hot. Turn on your steam shower. The recommended temperature for all steam showers is 110° to 115° F (43° to 46° C). Now the hard part, sitting, relaxing and enjoying your steam shower. Remember don’t overdo it, no more than 15-20 minutes.

The next time that you come in to our Saskatoon store, tell us you like to take your steam shower. Happy Steaming!

Steam Generators that Power Your Steam Shower

If you own or are planning to own a steam shower in the near future, you probably know the importance of a steam. In a steam shower, a steam generator is responsible for producing steam for the steam shower. There are various models with different features that can range in price from less than $1000 to several thousand dollars.

The difference between a steam shower and a sauna is they type of heat that is being generated. A sauna surrounds you with a dry heat while a steam shower will wrap you with a relaxing and warm air that will penetrate sore and tired muscles and achy bones relieving everyday pains and strains; helping you to breathe better and sleep soundly. Some of the major benefits of using steam showers include clearer skin removing pimples, blackheads bumps, helps you battle infections and inflammation in the nasal area, increased blood circulation and helps you lose weight.

When buying a steam shower you have to take into consideration the technical specifications as well as the overall configuration. You’ll have to hire a contractor to install it. You have a choice of buying a complete steam shower with everything included and ready for installation or buying a steam generator and then installing it later. Shower size is an important consideration when purchasing a steam generator for your steam shower. If you need any help in selecting the right steam generator or installing it, give us a call, we’d be happy to help you out.
