Sleep Better by Taking a Bath Before Going to Bed

Do you take a shower instead of a bath before you go to bed?  But by taking that quick shower you might be missing out on some great health benefits that a bath offers.

1.     Lying down helps puts you in a better mood. Our bodies like to be horizontal and they associate horizontal positions with relaxation and vulnerability. While submerged in your warm bath, you’re duplicating the same conditions of the womb.
2.     Baths help with skin conditions. By adding a little bleach (0.005 percent) to your bath research has shown that you can provide relief to eczema sufferers both by killing the bacteria on the skin and by dampening the immune system's inflammation response,
3.     Cold baths reduce muscle pain. A cold bath lowers the levels of lactic acid in the bloodstream which builds up in the body during intense exercise. After you get out of your bath, new blood replaces it; improving your recovery time.
4.     A hot bath before bed makes it easier to go to bed.  When your body temperature drops at night it starts to produce melatonin, the hormone that induces sleep. Because our bodies get colder at night naturally a hot bath by heating will get you sleepy and ready for a good night’s sleep.

The next time you take a shower before you go to bed , you might be better off taking a bath.
